A Poem from Chennai

One Last Time: A Tribute to a Grandmother

Father Time has ravaged her,
time and again –
first, her innocence
then, her beauty
even her dignity,
until her frail body
could take no more
even the burden of a feather;
yet, she walked,
softly but surely,
taking baby steps
to the sanctum,
perhaps to thank Him
one last time
before she is robbed of shine
and left with divine.
