Open Letter to High Schoolers:

Dear High Schooler

The fact that you are reading this page tells me that you are unique. You will go on to impact many people in your life with what you choose to do with your future. You are fortunate, gifted, talented, extraordinary and precious.

Inequality is ubiquitous and has been so for time immemorial. You could look at it as an insurmountable problem with no practical solution or as a challenge that you can address in your own small ways. The first step, I believe, is for you to be convinced that it is good for you to think of those that are “differently endowed”. William Shakespeare has this to say about “Mercy”:

"The quality of mercy is not strained

It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven!

It is twice blessed

It blesseth him who gives, and him who takes ...

It is an attribute to God Himself.”

Incorporate giving in your daily life, engage in volunteerism, let generosity become a part of your being. At AEIOU, we call this having a PSR statement – PSR stands for “Personal Social Responsibility”.

If and when you are ready to script your PSR statement, please contact me. We would be happy to help you draft your PSR statement and work towards your fulfilling that – this process is done entirely over the internet. The best part of my “department” is that no one fails! That is because we do not “evaluate” you – we merely “celebrate” what you achieve!

So, please email me about how YOU would like to make a difference!  We have separate programs for high school teenagers, college-goers and young managers.

Remember, you make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give!

Hazel Correa, Deputy Director, PSR World (at) AEIOU
